Watch: John Cena Brings Back 5 Hands Of Doom During WWE Smackdown Live Dark Matches Today

A string of dark matches were held for the audience in attendance during today’s WWE Smackdown Live, ones which included John Cena

WWE Smackdown didn’t quite unravel in the manner John Cena would have envisaged. After making his return to WWE for the first time in 15 months at WWE Money in the Bank, Cena was present at Smackdown Friday Night live as well.

It was to continue his sequence of challenging Roman Reigns for a fight. However, not only did Cena see his invite get spurned but he was absolutely clobbered by both Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns on the night.

Receiving one of his worst batterings in WWE as both Heyman and Reigns left no stone unturned to mock and belittle him, Cena had no option but to scamper away with his tail in between his legs. However, Cena returned to the ring for a raft of dark matches scheduled by WWE for the live audience in attendance.

The clashes took place off air, ones which saw Cena getting involved as well. This was Cena’s first match since 2020 in Firefly Fun House match loss to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36.

The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland saw John Cena, Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio team up for a six-man tag team win over WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos.

Whilst Roman Reigns wasn’t too involved in the fracas apart from hitting Rey with a steel chair, Cena was seen in full flow during the showdown. He brought out his illustrious five hands of doom as the arena rang with Cena’s, “you can’t see me.”

The dark matches made for intriguing viewing as they enthralled the live audience in attendance with the Smackdown being the second event this year to have live fans.
