One of the men’s tour’s oldest competitions, the Stockholm Open initially took place in 1969, and still going strong today. Sven Davidson, the first Swedish player to win a Grand Slam championship, was asked by the tennis association to host a competition there. The competition was developed as a result of this. To win the first competition, Nikola Pilic defeated Ilie Nastase. The most famous players to have won the competition in the past include John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl, and Roger Federer.
