2022 European Chess Club Cup Results Today, Best Performers of Day 6, And Latest Standings
The title of Open section champion at European Chess Club Cup 2022 is unquestionably within reach for Novy Bor Chess Club and all they need is a draw in their last-round tie versus Asnieres Le Grand Echiquier. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, the current World Blitz Champion, will be Harikrishna’s opponent, and Andrey Esipenko will be Vidit’s opponent during this tie so things won’t be butter smooth for Novy Bor.
In the Women’s division, ASVOe Pamhagen is ahead of the pack by two points and sit at top with 11/12 points. Pamhagen simply needs a tie on Sunday to clinch first place in the Women’s European Club Cup, much like Novy Bor in the open. The Austrian team won back-to-back matches by the slimmest of margins after drawing Superbet in round 4 to take a 2-point lead over the top two seeds, Monte-Carlo and Superbet.
In the last round of matches on Sunday, top-seeded CSU Superbet will take on fourth-seeded TAJFUN – SK Ljubljana while leaders Novy Bor will play third-seeded Asnieres Le Grand Echiquier. During Round 7 match, Magnus Carlen’s Offerspill will take on Clichy-Echecs-92, the fifth-seed. With title hopes on the line, top-seeded Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo will take on eighth-seeded Blue & Yellow in the women’s division, while leaders Pamhagen will take on fifth-seeded BGK KS Gwiazda Bydgoszcz in the last round.
