2022 Men’s World Team Table Tennis Championships Format, List of Participants, Favorites to Win, And Indian Squad
The hosts, China, who are also the defending champions in both the men’s and women’s team competitions, have a strong history in the sport and are the favorites to win it again this year. In the men’s competition, the German team stands out as a powerful force that can give the China squad a serious battle. Another European country that has tricks under its sleeve is Sweden. Meanwhile, always competing nations like Japan and South Korea will be one of the front-runners this time as well.
India would need divine intervention to win a medal as the men’s squad will have their work cut out for them with Sathiyan Gnanasekaran assuming the leadership role because Sharath Kamal, a dependable warhorse from Birmingham and a CWG hero, will not be travelling. The nations of Germany, France, India, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are in Group 2 of the Men’s competition.
There will be a total of 32 teams, which will be divided into three groups of four teams and four groups of five teams. The top 16 teams will then compete in the knockout round after that. Five singles matches make up a team match, and each singles match will be determined in a best-of-five game format.
India Menโs Team: Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, Sanil Shetty
