The English Premier League matches for this weekend have been postponed following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth II was the oldest monarch in the United Kingdom. She passed away on Thursday in Balmoral at the age of 96. The whole nation will have 10-day mourning for the Queen and as a result to which all major events in the country have been postponed. Both Manchester United and Arsenal paid a minute of silence for the Queen during their Europa League Games.
This weekends Premier League matches were set to begin at noon between Chelsea and Fulham. The game is likely to be played next year, following the official statement of the EPL concerning delayed games. The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) also postponed its Friday clash between Cove Rangers FC and Dundee. In addition to the football matches, the BMW PGA Championship has also been suspended and the rest of the action will be held at a later date.

England and Wales cricket board also announced the suspension of Friday’s play between England and South Africa. Other sports including horse racing and boxing is also planned the same. Friday’s boxing game between Claressa Shield and Savannah Marshall will be played behind the doors. Thursday and Friday’s horse racing events are also cancelled and an official announcement regarding the new dates will be announced soon.
