Umesh Katti, an eight-time MLA and Karnataka Minister from the Hukkeri assembly district, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at a Bengaluru private hospital.

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, expressed sorrow on the passing of a “close friend” and cabinet colleague, stating that the state has lost an “experienced statesman, dynamic leader, and a loyal public worker.”

Who Was Umesh Katti?
Umesh Katti was a senior politician from Karnataka who was an eight-time MLA and Karnataka Minister. He had been in the news because he recently died.
He was born on 14 March 1961 in Khadaklat, Mysore State, India. He received his education from KLE Society’s Raja Lakhamagouda Science Institute (Autonomous).
He died on 6 September 2022 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. At the time of his death, he was 61 years old. He is survived by wife Sheela, son Nikhil, daughter Sneha, brother and a former MP Ramesh and four grandsons.
His Career
He began his professional life as a political activist. He was known for advocating independent statehood for north Karnataka.
After the death of his father, Legislative Assembly member Vishwanath Katti, in 1985, he entered politics. He first joined Janata Dal and then Bharatiya Janata Party. He was first elected to the Karnataka Assembly. He served in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for six terms.
From 4 August 2021 until his passing, he served as a cabinet minister for Karnataka’s Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and Forest.
Death Cause Of Umesh Katti
He had a severe heart attack on September 6, 2022, and passed out in the bathroom of his Dollar’s Colony home in Bengaluru. He was brought to M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bangalore.
When he was taken to the hospital, he had no pulse. As a result, he was unable to be saved, and at 11:40 p.m., he was pronounced dead.
