Gyamar Nikum is a well-known Indian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Rajasthan United in the I-League. He has recently been in the news because he helps Rajasthan United beat ATK Mohun Bagan in the Durand Cup tie.
He was born on 26 October 2004 in Nyapin, Arunachal Pradesh, India. His hometown is Naharlagun, India. He is currently living in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
His height is 1.67 m or 5 ft 5.5 inches. He is presently 17 years old.
His Career
Gyamar Nikum began playing football when he was just eight years old. He represented Arunachal Pradesh in the U15 sub-junior national championships by the age of 14.
Nikum reached a professional milestone in 2019 when he was chosen to play for the Arunachal Pradesh squad in the U18 BC Roy Trophy, where they advanced to the semifinals.
The midfielder was noticed by Rajasthan United during that competition, and they gave him the opportunity to join their residential academy in Bhilwara. He was swiftly promoted to the first-team squad after impressing the team’s then-coach, Vikrant Sharma.
Gyamar Nikum made his I-League Qualifiers debut on October 20, 2021, against Madan Maharaj, making history as one of the youngest players ever to be picked to make an appearance from Arunachal Pradesh. He was 16 years and 359 days old at that time.
When Rajasthan United had a spectacular first season in the I-League, placing among the top 7 of Phase 1 and progressing for the Championship stage, he had a breakaway 2021–22 season, playing in fourteenth of their eighteen games.
He and Rajasthan United agreed to a new four-year contract agreement in July 2022. He scored his first goal for the team on August 20 in a surprising 3-2 Durand Cup victory over ATK Mohun Bagan.
