At the Commonwealth Games 2022, Indian wrestler Pooja Gehlot took home the bronze medal in the Women’s Freestyle 50 kg division. At the Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B on Saturday, she defeated Scottish wrestler Christine Lemofack Letchidjio.

Who Is Pooja Gehlot?
Pooja Gehlot is a famous Indian freestyle wrestler. She has recently been in the news because won the bronze medal at CWG 2022 and one of her videos has viral on various social media platforms.
She was born on 15 March 1997 in Lampur village near Delhi, India. Her hometown is Farmana, Haryana.
Her father’s name is Vijender Singh who is a lab assistant at a Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya. Her mother’s name is Jagwanti Devi and she is a housewife. She also has 3 siblings including two brothers and one sister. Her brothers’ names are Ankit and Pushpendra. Her sister’s name is Priyanka.
She attended Lovely Professional University where she did a bachelor’s in Physical Education.
Her height is 5 ft 3 in (160 cm) and her weight is 55kg or 121 lbs. Presently, she is 25 years old and doesn’t have an official Instagram profile.
Her Career
Before being a wrestler, she was a junior national-level volleyball player because her father opposed wrestling.
However, she started her professional wrestling training in 2014. In the 48 kg weight division, she took first place at the 2016 National Junior Wrestling Championship. She did have an injury that year, though, which prevented her from wrestling for more than a year.
Gehlot’s first triumph in the international competition came in 2017 when she took home a gold medal at the Asian Junior Championship in Taiwan.
A significant accomplishment for her in 2019 was taking home a silver medal in the 51 kg division of the under-23 World Wrestling Championship in Budapest, Hungary. In addition, she became just the second Indian woman to take home a silver medal in that competition.
She participated in the Yasar Dogu Tournament in 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey. He recently won the bronze medal at Commonwealth Games 2022.
