The BCCI(Board of control for cricket India) declared the squad for Asia cup 2022 on the 8th of August three weeks before the tournament. The experienced name Shikhar Dhawan misses out on the squad after being the top scorer in the last edition of the Asia cup. He has been the best batsman for India in multi-nation tournaments for India in the past decade.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are back in after being rested for the recent West Indies tour. The 2 experienced players will be key for the men in blue as they are in the Top 3 of the batting lineup.
Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah Injury update
The 2 speedsters are right now undergoing rehab in the NCA of Bengaluru. The injury of Harshal seems to be a serious one that will take time to heal. He didn’t play a single game in the West Indies tour. Although he did play all 3 T20s in the England tour. There is still no clarity about the return of Harshal Patel.
Jasprit Bumrah has been diagnosed with a back injury. One of the best bowlers in the world currently will play a crucial role in the T20 World cup in Australia. He expected to be back on the team till the mega event. India will surely miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah in the Asia cup 2022.
