2022 Commonwealth Games 2022 Commonwealth Games – Women’s Singles Badminton Latest Results, Medal Round Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
Seventh-ranked PV Sindhu defeated No. 19 Yeo Jia Min 21-19, 21-17 to advance to her second consecutive Commonwealth Games women’s singles final. In order to capture the much-coveted gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, PV Sindhu will compete against Canadian Michelle Li in the final on Monday. Experts are backing Sindhu as the overwhelming favorite as the Indian shuttler has defeated the Canadian twice this year in straight sets.
PV Sindhu was 5-9 behind in the semi-final at one point but upped her offensive style to score the next six points and led 11-9 at the half. Despite a late comeback by the fourth seed, the Indian maintained her composure to win the opening game.
In the second game, Yeo Jia Min displayed flashes of brilliance, but PV Sindhu consistently controlled the rallies and led by two points at the half. Similar strategies were used by the top-seeded PV Sindhu to extend her lead after the interval. The Singaporean attempted to make a comeback, but PV Sindhu, who had five match points, won in 49 minutes to advance to the gold medal match.
On August 8, 2022, at 1:20 PM IST, PV Sindhu will hit the court in the gold medal match where she will compete against Michelle Li of Canada.
