There is a new fashion trend featuring the hot pink color which has taken over the internet like a storm.
The trend is inspired by none other than our Barbie, hence it is termed as โBarbiecoreโ trend. This trend has turned everything into hot pink, from red carpets to stores and of course your Instagram feed.

This trend is aligned with the upcoming Barbie film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, which rose in popularity in the fashion industry.
What’s the Barbiecore Trend?
Just like all-black outfits, Barbiecore trends feature all-pink outfits. This trend has taken up so much that from celebrities to social media users everyone has been dressing up in everything pink from monochrome neon pink looks to bubblegum accessories.
The actual purpose behind the trend is to break down the stereotypes and make a statement about feminism.
A LA-based fashion blogger Chazlyn Yvonne Stunson, opened up about the trend. She said, “I think we have changed the way we think about the stereotypical Barbie girl with blonde hair and the perfect body. Nowadays, we are seeing all kinds of individuals, such as myself, partake in the aesthetic”.
Since Past few days, many celebrities have been seen wearing ‘pink’ outfits. At the 2022 Grammy Awards, Justin Bieber appeared in a bright fuchsia beanie while Saweetie rocked a hot pink dress.
Pink was also seen as a prominent color at this yearโs Met Gala red carpet as well, with Sebastian Stan dressed head-to-toe in a pink monochromatic look and Glenn Close in an electric pink suit.
In July this year, many celebrities threw Barbiecore-themed parties such as Khloe Kardashianโs 38th birthday party in June and Margot Robbieโs birthday party in July this year.
How Did Barbiecore Trend Start?
The Barbiecore trend has recently risen to prominence during a 2020 Valentino Fall runway show, which debuted in March. In the show, the luxury house presented its Valentino Pink PP collection.
All the models in the show were seen wearing Valentino Pink from head to toe. Subsequently, the color became the highlight and began seeing in many red carpet events.
Barbiecore has now become a trending hashtag not only on video-sharing platform TikTok but at other social media platforms too. Though the hashtag has nearly 15 million views on TikTok alone.
If you want to hop on the trend, then you just need to embrace the pink color. Though the trend setter is preferring hot pink, other shades such as bubblegum and fuchsia also embody the Barbiecore vibe.
A trend expert of Etsy, Dayna Isom Johnson, said in a statement that, “A much-welcomed mood-booster after the last few years, โBarbiecoreโ is all about embracing vibrant hues particularly the dollโs signature hot pink in everyday life”.
