Hosts India finished Round 6 at the 44th Chess Olympiad on low spirits as Team A and B both failed to win their ties after India A drew against Uzbekistan while India B lost against Armenia. However, India defeated Georgia, a formidable opponent in women’s chess, 3-1 thanks to two significant victories from GM Koneru Humpy and IM Vaishali R. India now holds the sole lead in the FIDE Women’s Chess Olympiad. With 12 match points, India is in first place.

Chess Olympiad 2022 Format, Schedule, Date, Time, Trophy, And Other Details
The Swiss system is being used to administer the competition. Each game will have a time limit of 90 minutes, with breaks every 40 moves for 30 seconds and a 30-minute extension after that. A player may request a draw at any point while the game is still in progress.
Over the course of 11 rounds, each team will face off against another team in a four-on-four encounter. Each team may submit one name for the reserve roster. Teams will be rated based on the match points they have accumulated during the course of each round. The tie-breaker will be decided by a number of factors when two or more teams have played an equal number of games.
The first round of the competition started on July 29 and will conclude with the final round on August 9. All rounds will begin at 15:00 IST, with the exception of the championship round, which will begin at 10:00 IST. Today will be the sole competitive rest day; play will resume on Friday.

Chess Olympiad 2022 Round 6 Events, Results, Winners, And Round 7 Schedule
At the conclusion of the sixth round of the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad, Armenia defeated India 2 with a score of 2.5-1.5 and took the lead with 12 match points thanks to victories from GMs Samvel Ter-Sahakyan and Robert Hovhannisyan. With 11 match points, GM Fabiano Caruana assisted USA in defeating Iran and moving up to second place in the standings. With 10 match points each, India 2, Uzbekistan, France, India A, Netherlands, Cuba, India 3, Germany, Kazakhstan, Serbia, and Peru are all tied for third place.
On the top board, GM Dommaraju Gukesh of India 2 won his sixth straight game, this time over GM Gabriel Sargissian, to keep up his unbeaten streak. Meanwhile, GM Anish Giri of the Netherlands upset GM Baadur Jobava of Georgia in a game that was incredibly inventive. In a game where India 1 drew with Uzbekistan, Harikrishna famously snapped 17-year-old Nodirbek Abdusattorov’s winning run.
On Friday’s seventh round matches of Open division, India A will play against India C while India B will face a tough test against Cuba and attempt to return to winning ways.
