The 2022 Commonwealth Games’ track cycling began on July 29 and culminated on August 2. Indian cyclists finished far behind the medal winner in nearly every event of CWG 2022 and will be looking to make amends in upcoming tournaments.

2022 Commonwealth Games Cycling Last Day Results, Medal Winners, And Indian Performance
On the final day of cycling at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Ronaldo Laitonjam Singh produced the lone significant result for India. Ronaldo Laitonjam placed 12th out of 20 riders in the men’s 1000-meter time trial final. With an average speed of 57.600, he finished in 1:02.500, which was 2.995 seconds slower than the winner. Matthew Glaetzer, an Australian cyclist, took home the gold medal, while Thomas Cornish earned the silver.
At the Lee Valley VeloPark, Naman Kapil and Venkappa Kengalgutti both failed to complete the 40 km point race for men. Meenakshi also failed to complete her race as the Indian cyclist lost control and fell during the women’s 10 km scratch race final when she slipped down the bank of the turn. The accident happened because Bryony Botha of New Zealand, who was riding in front of the Indian collapsed. After the fall, Meenakshi received treatment right away and was then taken away on a stretcher.
Triyasha Paul and Shushikala Agashe failed to advance to the second round of the women’s keirin competition after placing last in their respective heats. The two entered the repechage rounds but were unable to advance further.

2022 Commonwealth Games Track Cycling Medal Tally
In the track cycling event at 2022 Commonwealth Games, Australia and New Zealand dominated with 7 and 6 gold medals respectively. Scotland, England, and Wales all grabbed more than 5 medals but captured only one gold medal each. Meanwhile, Indian cyclists failed to win any medal in any event and will return home with empty hands.
