On Saturday, July 30, 2022, the fight took place at at the Bournemouth International Centre, Bournemouth. The WBC Featherweight eliminator fight between Brandon Figueroa and Carlos Castro also featured on the same card. The main card began from 7:00 PM BST (2:00 PM ET) with the main event ring-walks starting at 10:00 PM BST (5:00 PM ET). Main Event match between Billam-Smith and Chamberlain was a 12-round cruiserweight division match with the EBU European Cruiserweight Title at stake.
To defend his European and Commonwealth crowns, Chris Billam-Smith overcame Isaac Chamberlain on Saturday night in Bournemouth. Billam-Smith was cheered on by a tremendously enthusiastic crowd while competing in his birthplace, but the British duo endured a difficult, exhausting contest. As the battle lasted the distance, both boxers had their moments, but in the end, the incumbent was clearly the more skilled fighter and he was declared the winner by unanimous decision, with each of the three judges awarding him the victory by a score of 117-111.

Chris Billam-Smith vs Isaac Chamberlain Match Events & How it Unfolded?
When Billam-Smith entered the Bournemouth International Centre, the audience let forth a loud yell. The champion started out with powerful jabs that pierced Chamberlain’s defense. The Londoner was taken down by those shots, and Billam-Smith supported them with his cross. He intimidated Chamberlain into the ropes and applied close pressure.
In the final two rounds, both men were worn out but Billam-Smith was still able to unleash powerful punches, clattering the ribs before launching a three-punch barrage into the head of his opponent. The champion was the first to get up from his stool for the last round as well, and he once more raised his arms to the fans.

Chamberlain claimed that he lost the match because the match went on till complete twelve rounds, which was a first for him. He suffered in the final rounds due to his inexperience in these situations but he made it obvious that he wanted to face off against Billam-Smith once more. Currently, Billam-Smith hasn’t reacted to the rematch wish of his opponent but it is likely that he will decline the offer and try to climb the ladder towards a potential world title shot in the future.
