Tour de France Femmes is following the same classifications as the Tour de France, with the general classification represented by the yellow jersey, the points classification by the green jersey, the mountain classification by the polka-dot jersey, and the young rider classification by the white jersey. Tour de France Femmes History, Organizers, And Other Details

The first of these events was held as a one-time event in 1955 and has since been followed by other professional women’s cycle stage races across France that serve as the equivalent of the Tour de France for women. Since 1984, there has been a women’s Tour de France, though it has gone by a variety of names, including Tour de France Féminin, Tour of the EEC Women, Tour Cycliste Féminine, and Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale.

These races have faced a number of challenges over the years, including financial difficulties, a lack of media attention, and trademark conflicts with Amaury Sport Organization. ASO stated in June 2021 that they would introduce the Tour de France Femmes, a new women’s stage competition. Following the 2022 Tour de France in July 2022, the first edition would last 8 days. The European Broadcasting Union and France Télévisions will collaborate to broadcast the race live on television, according to ASO, which also revealed that Zwift would sponsor it.

Race director Marion Rousse revealed the 2022 edition’s itinerary in October 2021. On the morning of the men’s race’s last day, a stage of the race will conclude on the Champs-Élysées, where it will begin in Paris. The eight-day race continues and concludes at La Planche des Belles Filles with a summit finish. The final stages, which will be contested in the Vosges Mountains and conclude with a taxing climb over La Super Planche des Belles Filles, a summit that is occasionally included in the men’s Tour, are still a few days away for the competitors.

Tour de France Femmes Latest Results, Track Difficulty, And Leaders

Marlen Reusser won stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes by herself after a long day of tension and multiple mechanical problems on the gravel roads of Champagne. After the four hard, white gravel sections had wreaked havoc as planned, Reusser took advantage of a brief reprieve to mount a smart attack on the asphalt between the penultimate and final sectors.

Reusser increased her advantage all the way to the Bar-sur-Aube finish line, despite a powerful acceleration from Kasia Niewiadoma in the last sector and counterattacks on the final two peaks. Alena Amialusik took third place ahead of Veronica Ewers in a race from a trio in pursuit, with Evita Muzic earning second. In order to maintain her overall lead, race leader Marianne Vos finished first among the 20 riders competing for the general classification at 1:40.

The pre-race favorites all finished together in the end, with Mavi Garca suffering the most on a terrible day that saw her suffer two punctures, ride teammates’ bikes, and then get struck by her own team car while attempting to get back on.

Major Tour de France sponsors like LCL, E.Leclerc, and koda are also supporting the event. According to the race’s main sponsor Zwift, the success of the women’s “virtual Tour de France” during the COVID-19 pandemic inspired them to commit to sponsorship. The competition will have a €250,000 prize pool, making it the largest event in women’s cycling. Meanwhile, €50,000 will be awarded to the winner of the race.

NBC Sports will broadcast the TdF Femmes 2022 daily through Peacock Premium.
