Football fans absolutely love it when they get the opportunity to meet their favorite players and heroes. 93-year-old lifelong Liverpool fan Eric Farrington was one of the few, who got the opportunity as he was personally visited by Liverpool icon Sir Kenny Dalglish.

Eric Farrington, who had been a big Red since the early 1950’s, sadly passed away last month.

How Eric was able to meet his idol Sir Kenny Dalglish?
Sir Kenny Dalglish, a guy who has distinguished himself as a player and a manager, is a living legend of the Liverpool Football Club. The former No. 7 of Liverpool, who helped surprise Eric earlier this year, fulfilled Eric’s dream of meeting his hero in person.
The Anfield Wrap and Nivea Men UK worked together to plan the surprise for Eric, a 1929-born resident of a care facility in Knotty Ash. Eric was a lifelong supporter of Liverpool, and Dalglish was there for an amazing surprise that brought the two together. Watching Eric’s eyes light up would surely be very heartwarming for any football fan and especially Liverpool fans.
Eric admired Sir Kenny, describing him as a beautiful man and a good footballer. He also compared Dalglish to Shankly, saying that both treated Liverpool like a second home and stayed with the team all the way to the end.
What was discussed between Sir Kenny Dalglish and Eric Farrington?
The two exchanged memories and experiences, and Eric had many because he had formerly lived on Melwood Drive and had seen Anfield develop into what football fans all know it to be today. During his visit in last season, Dalglish gifted Eric an autographed shirt and VIP tickets to Liverpool’s final league match against Wolves. Regrettably, Eric died on June 8, 2022, just 17 days after his final visit to Anfield to see the famous Reds in action.
Eric also revealed in the video that he had been a devoted Liverpool supporter since the age of ten and always has been grateful about the fact that he was able to witness many big European and Domestic matches.
