Vrinda Grover graduated from the St. Stephen’s College of Delhi, India where she was a student in History. Vrinda obtained her degree in law from Delhi University and a Masters in Law from the University of New York. Her family details are not known. She is married to Anand Grover who is a lawyer as well with the two having a daughter.

Vrinda Grover has appeared for the victims in prominent cases such as the Soni Sori rape-torture case, in year 1984 anti-Sikh riots, 1987 Hashimpura police killings, in year 2004 Ishrat.

She also contributed to the drafting of the Criminal Law Amendment 2013 to the law against sexual assault; the Protection of the Children from Sexual Offences Act, in year 2012, and the Prevention of Torture Bill, in 2010, a law for protection from Communal and Targeted Violence.

In year 2001 Parliament Attack case, Vrinda Grover served as a counselor for the S.A.R. Geelani, one of the main accused. In the aftermath of year 2013 Muzaffarnagar Massacre, Grover represented seven of the gangrape survivors of communal violence. Vrinda Grover has worked in a number of organizations including the post of executive director of Multiple Action Research Group (MARG).

She focuses on the impunity of the state in relation to human rights violations, her research and writing inquiries into the role of law in the subordination of women; the effect of ‘security’ laws on human rights. Time magazine has also identified Vrinda Grover as one of the 100 most influential people in the world of 2013.

Grover speaks critically of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, in the two-finger test, and other issues at different events and on the news channels.
