This is so disgusting but never surprising when it comes to our children. Whoever is in this "Rosita" costume needs to be fired. I don't know if a racist or a c☻️☻️n is in this costume, but Sesame Place has some splanin', firing and apologizing to do. #BoycottSesamePlace pic.twitter.com/magSNsoLGj

What happened in Sesame Theme Park as Instagram Video goes Viral
On social internet, a clip of a Sesame Street character ignoring two kids has gone viral. On July 17, 2022, a mother accused the theme park from the show of racism after one of the characters declined to high-five two Black kids. Jeezy, an Instagram user, shared a video from the theme park in Philadelphia. Rosita, a character from the show, is seen in the video waving and high-fiving everyone assembled throughout the parade. But when she gets to Jeezy’s kids, she is seen shaking her head, saying “no” and declining to give them high-fives.
Jeezy continued by saying that the Sesame Street figure had shied away from them and had instead moved on to hug a white girl standing next to them. She also declared that she would not return to the theme park and criticized the park administration for doing nothing.
Kelly Rowland’s Furious Reaction to Instagram Video
Kelly Rowland was also drawn to the video, and she criticised Sesame Place for the actions of one of their employees. The singer, 41, shared the following in an Instagram story:
Had that been me… that whole parade would have been in flames. Like, are you serious? You’re not going to speak to my child? And did you see that baby’s face at the end, the little one with the pink on? She deserves an explanation”
The video by Jeezy also drew attention of Wendell Pierce, a former cast member of The Wire. Pierce compared the video to a tragic event in his own youth and called it violent and scarring.
Statement by Sesame Park And Clarification of the Incident
After the video became popular, Sesame Place posted a statement to their Instagram page on July 17. It was clarified in relation to the incident from yesterday that performers occasionally have trouble seeing at lower levels due to their costumes, and occasionally they fail to recognise guest requests for hugs.
According to Sesame Park’s statement, “no” motion by the costumed employee was not directed at any one person, but rather was a response to several requests from someone in the audience who asked Rosita to hold their child for a photo which is not permitted. Sesame Place added in their statement that the costumed employee did not purposely disregard the girls and is devastated by the misunderstanding,
The statement from Sesame Place ended with a reminder that it had contacted Jeezy and her family to offer its apologies and to provide an invitation to return for a unique meet-and-greet opportunity.
