Jules Bianchi and Charles Leclerc: Was Bianchi Leclerc’s godfather?

To find out the relationship between Jules Bianchi and Charles Leclerc, it is first important to know some other facts.

First, Leclerc’s elder brother and Jules Bianchi were best friends, and the trio would hang together back in the day. This is where they all got close and developed a strong bond. Secondly, Bianchi and Leclerc’s fathers were friends too.

Leclerc, while talking about his bond with Bianchi, said

I think it’s clear to the eyes of everyone who knows this sport: Jules had an exceptional talent. It’s also thanks to him I’m here today we grew up together. He was a few years older, my older brother’s best friend. Our fathers were best friends too.

There is not enough information to state how exactly Bianchi became Leclerc’s godfather. However, it is believed that the relationship stemmed from the bond that the two drivers shared through their dads and Leclerc’s older brother.

Jules Bianchi’s death

As stated above, Jules was a Formula One driver for the Marussia F1 team. While he was participating in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, Jules got himself into a huge crash and sustained some fatal injuries.

The French driver was immediately taken to the nearby hospital for emergency surgery after suffering a diffuse axonal injury.

Jules was in a coma for a long period after the emergency surgery. On July 17, 2015, the Frenchman ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Bianchi’s death was the first in the sport since Ayrton Senna’s 1994 San Marino Grand Prix mishap.
