The final of the 2021 Hylo Open was concluded on 7th November. The 5-day event in Germany saw new records, some upsets, and injuries. 2021 Hylo Open Winner: Men’s Singles Results
Winner- Loh Kean Yew
Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew defeated Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia (19-21, 21-13, 17-12r)
The match was turning into a spectacular one as Loh Kean Yew was inching towards his maiden Super 500 title, but unfortunately, the match was cut short as Lee retired due to injury.
Nevertheless, Loh did lift his first trophy as well as breaking the record of being the first player from Singapore to win a Superseries event.

Winner – Busanan Ongbamrungphan
Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan defeated Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min (21-10, 21-14)
World number 14 Busanan also claimed her maiden title last night as she tarnished her opponent in straight sets. She made sure the match was quick and pacey as it took her just 35 minutes to get her hands on the title.
2021 Hylo Open: Men’s Doubles Results
Winner- Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo
In an all Indonesian showdown, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo from Thailand defeated their fellow countrymen Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin with a score of 21-14, 21-19.
The world’s number 1 ranked Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo took just 34 minutes to complete the match. It was their 18th BWF world tour title and have lost just thrice in the final. Hence they were the favorites for the match.

Winner- Hoshi Chisato / Matsuda Aoi
Japan’s Hoshi Chisato / Matsuda Aoi defeated Iwanaga Rin/Nakanishi Kie (22-20, 21-18)
Similar to the men’s double, Women’s doubles was also a single country showdown, and this time it was an all-Japanese battle. Hoshi Chisato and Matsuda Aoi defeated their fellow countrymen in straight sets.
Chisato and Matsuda came unseeded in the tournament, however, their victory over the top-seeded Jongkolphan Kititharakul / Rawinda Prajongjai in the semi-finals made them the favorites in the final.
2021 Hylo Open: Mixed Doubles
Winner- Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai
Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai defeated Indonesia’s Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti (22-20, 22-14).
It was a battle between the top 2 seeded teams and eventually, the top-seeded duo from Thailand emerged victoriously.
