An injured Zion Williamson has a long race to run before he finally hits his fitness levels ahead of NBA 2021 with his weight massively ballooning 

Currently on the injury bed, Zion Williamson is leaving New York Pelicans sweating over his fitness with each passing day.

The player who underwent surgery on his broken right foot is set to be out of action for a substantial amount of time before he rejoins the team and partakes in the NBA 2021 season. While there is no date nailed down on his return date at the moment, the player is envisaged to take a substantial amount of time before he finally gets the go ahead.

And the latest reports aren’t too pleasant either with the player grossly unfit currently. Failing to practice or hit the gym owing to his lengthy injury, Williamson was pictured turning up massively overweight to the New York Pelicans’ training camp with his pictures going viral on the internet.

The 21 year old is said to have spiked upwards of 300 pounds from his 284 pound weight last season, a figure which the Pelicans are trying to bring back under control. His current fitness levels have sent the alarm bells ringing amongst the Pelicans thinktank akin to the concerns the side had ahead of his rookie debut.

“I know Zion at 280, and he was not 280,” said one observer who is privy to the developments regarding the player.

“These are the injuries you have to be the most concerned about, a foot injury for a guy with noted weight issues,” said one Western Conference executive.
