Meanwhile, a video from Nagaland, which saw some school students bully a minor girl went viral recently.

The Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union Chümoukedima (ENSUC), Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU), and Sangtam Students’ Union Chümoukedima (SSUC) reportedly condemned the incident that took place on May 31 at Ward-9, Chümoukedima, where a minor student was physically and verbally assaulted by a group of fellow students. In their condemnation note, the ENSUC was said to have described the incident as a serious violation of the values of dignity, discipline, and humanity.

A viral video from Nagaland depicts a minor girl being mistreated by a group of older girls, including one reportedly a student. The footage shows the younger girl having her hair pulled while facing verbal abuse and intimidation. Recorded on March 31, 2025, the video quickly sparked widespread outrage after surfacing online. The Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union condemned the incident, describing the behavior as inhumane and unacceptable. They called on the suspected school, North Town Higher Secondary, to take disciplinary action and disclose the identities of those involved.

Officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) issued a statement discouraging the circulation of such videos, emphasizing that sharing them violates the child’s privacy and dignity while breaching provisions under the Juvenile Justice Act. The public received advice to report such content through the 1098 child helpline instead of sharing it on social media.

Following this advisory, several local digital media platforms, including NagalandAI and Aloto Naga TV, removed the video from their pages. An editor from one outlet highlighted the media’s responsibility to protect children from further psychological harm by avoiding the sharing of sensitive footage. Meanwhile, the minor remains under care, with legal and protective measures underway.

Many view this episode as a clear reminder of the collective responsibility schools, families, and digital platforms bear in safeguarding children’s safety and dignity. The video sparked widespread concern among the public and raised questions about student behavior. While the Chümoukedima Town Students’ Union took a firm stance, the broader community continues to await official clarification and accountability from the school involved.
