Papa was posted in Srinagar until 1989. He lived in Wanabal for six months before moving to Rambagh. He used to board the bus for the station office from the same place where Yasin Malik killed the IAF personnel.

He was responsible for the killing of scores of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s in the biggest genocide in India till date. However, despite admitting the same on interviews along with talking about how he murdered four Indian Air Force personnel, Yasin was hailed as a hero by India’s left leaning society with the Congress led government’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh even meeting with him.
Yasin was even invited by India Today to their 2008 conclave as a youth icon where Anand Mahindra went onto hail him as a peaceful secular. It wasn’t till the BJP government came to power that his atrocities and crimes were accounted for and him being jailed.
In March of the year 2020, Malik was charged for the murder of four Indian Air Force personnel during the attack of the year 1990 and is presently under trial. He is also facing trial for harassment and kidnapping Rubaiyya Sayeed. She is recently lodged in Tihar jail.
