Here is the list of nominees ranked for 2023 Yashin Trophy nominees as it gets announced by France Football and the top rankings

Lev Yashin, a legend of the USSR, is still the only goalkeeper to have ever won the Ballon d’Or, and Alisson was the first recipient of the trophy that bears his name.

For their efforts at the club and international levels, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Thibaut Courtois also scoop the gongs.

2023 Yashin Trophy nominees ranked

1. Emiliano Martinez – Aston Villa and Argentina

Emiliano Martinez, whose smack talk and sharp anticipation helped La Albiceleste win gold in Qatar late last year, is where Argentina’s tenacious team personality begins. In the World Cup final, he made a crucial stop to prevent Kingsley Coman from scoring from the penalty spot while also earning Argentina their third star.

Martinez, a former Arsenal goalkeeper, is still doing well for an ever-improving Aston Villa, but the Yashin Trophy will probably go to Martinez for his international antics in 2023.

2. Ederson – Manchester City and Brazil

How highly can you rate a custodian whose team has possession of the ball and is hardly ever called upon to perform real saves? We’re still placing Ederson of Manchester City in second place. It’s because he is a table winner and his spectacular saves against Inter in the Champions League final were his biggest contribution of the year.

3. Marc-Andre ter Stegen – Barcelona and Germany

With Xavi back in charge, Barcelona has recovered and only allowed 20 La Liga goals last season. That assisted Ter Stegen in winning the Zamora Trophy, and regular first-choice Manuel Neuer’s absence has increased Ter Stegen’s chances of playing for Germany.

4. Mike Maignan – AC Milan and France

Despite missing a significant portion of the 2022–23 season due to injury, Mike Maignan is the only goalkeeper currently playing in Serie A to be nominated for the Yashin Award.

Despite this, the Frenchman helped AC Milan reach the semifinals of the Champions League and had eight clean sheets in 21 appearances in Italy’s premier division. Maignan is anticipated to secure the position of Les Bleus’ regular stopper if Hugo Lloris announces his retirement from international competition, which will only help his reputation.

5. Thibaut Courtois – Real Madrid and Belgium

Given Real Madrid’s struggles in La Liga and the Champions League in 2022–2023, Thibaut Courtois, who won this honour last year with justifiable distinction, has had a more difficult year.

His 2023–24 season has been put on hold owing to a serious injury, and a dispute over captaincy has seriously harmed his relationship with the Belgium organisation.

6. Andre Onana – Manchester United and Cameroon

As a result of internal strife in the Cameroon team, Onana was forced to withdraw from the World Cup before leading Inter to the Champions League final.

During his brief Manchester United career thus far, his ease in possession has been accompanied by a few nerve-racking incidents, but it is obvious that his style will mesh better with Erik ten Hag than it did with David de Gea.

7. Yassine Bounou – Al Hilal and Morocco

Yassine Bounou, another talent who shone brightly in Qatar, won back-to-back player of the match awards as Morocco advanced to the World Cup semifinals.

Before joining the Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal, Bono enjoyed success at the club level when Sevilla won the Europa League. He was at his best again in the final against Roma.

8. Dominik Livakovic – Fenerbahce and Croatia

Two shootout victory over Brazil and Japan helped Croatia get to the semifinals in 2022. In the round of 16 match against Japan, Livakovic, who is currently playing for Fenerbahce, stopped Takumi Minamino, Kaoru Mitoma, and Maya Yoshida to advance his team and stop Rodrygo in the quarterfinals.

9. Brice Samba – Lens and France

Brice Samba, who definitely came into his own later in life, helped Nottingham Forest in 2022 in being promoted but left after that to join Lens in France.

The France international is now anticipating his first-ever outings in the Champions League, proving that it was the perfect choice.

10. Aaron Ramsdale – Arsenal and England

Aaron Ramsdale made a significant advancement when he went from an Arsenal team with aspirations of greatness to two successive relegations.

Since going to the Emirates in 2021, the goaltender, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, has pulled off several impressive and almost incredible saves.
