Hardik claims, after Rinku hit him for five sixes, “he lost 7-8 kilos and got sick,” rendering Yash Dayal unsuitable to play, know his latest health condition
More than a month after that fateful day against KKR, GT skipper Hardik Pandya stated that Yash Dayal’s “condition is still not good enough” to play.
Yash Dayal latest health update and condition news today
Hardik asserts, Yash Dayal no longer fit to play due to his illness after Rinku hit him for five sixes, he lost 7-8 kilos
Cricket can be cruel at times. It took Yash Dayal a while to realise this.
The left-arm pacer for the Gujarat Titans has experienced an unanticipated setback in his cricket career since being hit for five consecutive sixes by Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Rinku Singh when 28 runs were needed off the final five balls in an IPL 2023 match.
Dayal, a key member of GT’s championship-winning team a year ago, lost his place in the starting lineup and had a sharp drop in his physical and mental health.

More than a week after the fortnight at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Dayal’s “condition is still not good enough” to touch the pitch, and it might take him a long time to make a recovery, according to Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya.
Dayal lost about 7-8 kg as a result of illness after Rinku’s onslaught, according to Hardik, who also highlighted this after GT’s overwhelming victory over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.
When asked about Dayal at the post-match show on Star Sports, Hardik responded saying:
I can’t confirm that (on his chances of Yash Dayal playing again this season).”
He further said:
He fell ill and lost 7-8 kilos after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone’s loss is someone’s gain at the end of the day. It is going to take a long time before we see him on the field.”
Dayal collected 11 wickets in 9 innings for the reigning winners the previous season.
The 25-year-old, though, seems out of sorts this year. In three games, the left-arm bowler failed to record a single wicket and surrendered runs at a 15.83 economy rate.
A notable side effect of the KKR game was that Dayal’s family also suffered; Yash’s mother stopped eating for a few days after seeing Rinku Singh drag her son to the cleaners. His father, though, persisted and encouraged his son to make a successful return.
Chandrapal, Yash’s father, had told PTI:
These are the moments sport is made up of. Even in life, you come across failures, it’s important to stand up stronger.”
At the Narendra Modi Stadium, GT defended the total for the first time this season. Thanks to the aggressive hitting of David Miller (46) and Abhinav Manohar (42) in the closing overs, Gujarat amassed their highest-ever IPL total of 207-6. Shubman Gill had the highest total with 56.
Nehal Wadhera’s quickfire 40 off 21 balls helped Mumbai end at 152-9 after the Afghan spin duo of Noor Ahmad (3-37) and Rashid Khan (2-27) demolished the middle order.
