Prior to the newly reconstituted league’s draft, RedBird Capital, which is owned by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale, will undoubtedly be pumped up.

According to one of the sources, the merger would be set up as a merger of equals and would need regulatory permission. Before the 2024 season, the leagues want to merge.

According to reports, Dwayne Johnson’s XFL and the USFL have advanced merger discussions. An agreement between the two spring football leagues might be reached as soon as this week.

According to Axios, they also intend to merge before the 2024 season begins. After the merger, Fox, which also owns the USFL, and Disney, the XFL’s broadcaster, would probably split the TV rights to the new competition.

Johnson collaborated with his ex-wife Dany Garcia and invested more than $20 million to bring back the XFL in 2020. The league’s relaunched first season featured eight teams this year. However, it’s estimated that the XFL lost $60 million during the 2023 season.

With a predicted revenue of $100 million in 2024, the XFL was anticipated to rebound. Additionally, the USFL merger would provide Johnson’s spring football enterprise a significant new asset, as per a report in The Sun.

Soon after the 2022 NFL season concludes, RedBird Capital, which is now owned by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale, will launch the XFL. The league will be broadcast on the same networks that the NFL frequently uses throughout the course of the next five years.

Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale serve as the owners of the XFL, with Garcia the CEO and former Bills executive Russ Brandon serving as president of the league and the Rock had bought the XFL for $15 million, according to ESPN, when Vince McMahon declared the XFL bankrupt. While the new value of the XFL is not yet calculated, this is the first year since Johnson purchased it.
