Despite the news, his time at PSG this season still remains uncertain and he could still go out on loan.
Xavis Simons returns to PSG after activating buyback clause
20-year-old Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons is no longer a PSV Eindhoven player, after the club announced the same on Sunday. The player has returned to PSG after deciding to activate PSG’s famous buy-back clause in his contract. Following the move, PSV will now receive 6 million euros, out of which Simons will receive 2 million. The amount however, does not justify the market value of the attacking midfielder who had a brilliant outing in the last season.
He wore the number 10 shirt at PSV but his new PSG shirt number isn’t known.
Xavi Simons’ net worth is €4 million as of 2023 and he earnt a €1,560,000 salary per season playing for PSV Eindhoven.

According to renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Xavi Simons arrived in Paris this Sunday for his medical examination. He has reportedly signed a four-year contract with the club. However, there are still doubts regarding the Dutchman’s time at the club in the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Simons currently has two options for his future. Simons could stay at the club if in case either Kylian Mbappe or Neymar decides to leave the club during the summer. If this doesn’t happen, he could go out on loan. According to French news outlet L’Equipe, PSG will hold a meeting soon to decide on the player’s future. The same outlet also assures that:
If Mbappe and Neymar stay, Simons will go on loan to an important club that has already been found, but whose name is not known”.
Interestingly, another renowned journalist named Rik Elfrink, who covers PSV Eindhoven daily for a local outlet named Eindhovens Dagblad, shared that a clause in Simons’ contract states that PSG cannot transfer or sell Simons if he activates his buyback clause. As of now, the only thing certain is that Xavi Simons is officially a PSG player once again.
