Triple H confirmed the news about Wyatt’s sudden death on Thursday, 24 August 2023 on social media. He shared:

“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda — also known as Bray Wyatt — unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

According to reports, Bray was making a positive progress towards a return and his recovery. However, the former WWE champion passed away suddenly after suffering from a heart attack.

Bray Wyatt, real name, Windham Lawrence Rotunda, was an American professional wrestler who was born on May 23, 1987, in Brooksville, Florida, United States. He was born to parents Mike and Stephanie Rotunda. His father Mike Rotunda is WWE Hall of Famer, while his grandfather is Blackjack Mulligan, the former professional wrestler and football player. Bray has a brother named Taylor Rotunda (WWE’s Bo Dallas) and a sister named Mika Rotunda.

Wrestling career

Rotunda started out his wrestling career by making his debut in 2009 for Florida Championship Wrestling. He defeated Brian Jossie in his debut match, which was a singles match. The year after his debut, he wrestled under a new name, Husky Harris for NXT. Cody Rhodes served as his pro mentor during his time there.

Later in 2012, Rotunda returned to NXT as Bray Wyatt and formed the infamous Wyatt Family stable. The group consisted of Luke Harper (the late Brodie Lee) and Erick Rowan. However, the Wyatt family eventually broke up and Rotunda started a feud with “Broken” Matt Hardy. The pair however, eventually formed a tag team which lasted for a brief while.

Rotunda revamped his whole persona and came back in 2019 as “The Fiend”. This was his most popular gimmick to date, much due to his satirical children’s program “Firefly Fun House”. The program featured a series of vignettes with eerie puppets. The show had the reputation of growing more disturbing each week. While competing as “The Fiend,” Rotunda took part in several unique matches like the Wyatt Swamp Fight against Braun Strowman at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules. He also competed in the Firefly Fun House match against John Cena at WrestleMania 36.
