WWE is currently scouring for referees who are shorter in height in a bid to make their wrestlers look taller
Why WWE has done the things it has in 2021 is something which perhaps even the company won’t be able to explain or justify.
The year has been one of the worst in the company’s folklore since its inception. Knackered by the COVID pandemic and dwindling viewership, WWE ended up releasing a raft of notable names, a plight which was capitalised on by AEW.
Where WWE lost its glamour and shine, AEW slowly grew in popularity. Spurred by the string of WWE superstars who were now a part of its ranks, AEW managed to make a sizeable dent into WWE.
WWE To Get Shorter Referees In The Imminent Time
Desperate to regain its viewers, WWE has tried to pull off a slew of moves. While some have paid off, others haven’t with the company’s latest decision making for an intriguing one as well.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has gone onto report that WWE is now traversing for new referees who are short in height. The latest development is a part of the company’s approach to try and make its superstars look taller than they are, something WWE thinks it can achieve by pairing the wrestlers up with tiny referees.
The WWE’s decision comes at a time when it aired the story of the WWF steroid trials from 1993 at the Dark Side of the Rings. The steroid trails during the 90s had seen the WWE opt for smaller, more athletic wrestlers and a steroid testing policy in response to public demand for the end of the anabolic era.
