WWE Releases 2021: List Of The Superstars Released And What’s Up With The Company’s Mass Release

Last Friday, WWE released six more NXT superstars and here is a round-up of all the releases in 2021 and why this is being done 

2021 has been quite a rough year for the company and its superstars. The major reason for this has been the reduction of crowd revenue and ratings, ever since the pandemic pushed the action into the Performance Center (WWE ThunderDome). The company was thus, forced to release many superstars to make budgetary cuts; at least that is what appears to be. Read on to know about the NXT superstars released this week and others.

WWE Superstars Releases List So Far In 2021

After making some controversial releases lately including those of Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt and Ric Flair, WWE announced the release of the following NXT superstars last Friday on August 6.

  • Bobby Fish
  • Bronson Reed
  • Jake Atlas
  • Leon Ruff
  • Mercedes Martinez
  • Giant Zanjeer
  • Ari Sterling
  • Kona Reeves
  • Asher Hale
  • Tyler Rust
  • Desmond Troy

WWE has continued releasing many wrestlers attracting backlash from many fans; especially when its on the road and back to generating record revenues. As of June, the number of released superstars was 43 but now it has turned into a whopping 57. The entire WWE Universe is confused regarding the company’s decisions. Following is a month-wise list of all the WWE superstars released this year.

15th April: Samoa Joe, Chelsea Green, Peyton Royce, Billie Kaye, Mickie James, Tucker, Kalisto, Wesley Blake, Bo Dallas and Mojo Rawley

19th May: Velveteen Dream, Drake Wuertz, Jake Clemons, Brandy Lauren, Ezra Judge, Alexander Wolfe, Kavita Devi, Jessamyn Duke and Vanessa Borne

2nd June: Braun Strowman, Ruby Riott, Lana, Santana Garrett, Aleister Black and Buddy Murphy

25th June: Ever-Rise, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Ariya Daivari, Killian Dain, Marina Shafir, The Bollywood Boyz (Sunil Singh and Samir Singh), Curt Stallion, August Grey, Arturo Ruas, Tony Nese and Tino Sabbatell

Others: Andrade, Mark Henry, Big Show, Lars Sullivan and Steve Cutler

Out of all these ex-WWE superstars, only Zelina Vega and Samoa Joe were re-hired as part of Smackdown and NXT, respectively.
