The WTT Youth Series resumes on Wednesday, with players descending on the northern area of Austria for WTT Youth Contender Linz 2022, which runs from April 27th to May 3rd, know the schedule and players
The ninth stop on the 2022 Youth Series brings WTT to Austria for the first time, offering gripping drama from start to finish as the sport’s next-generation stars compete for supremacy at TipsArena Linz. Ten trophies will be awarded throughout the course of the seven-day event, with participants ranging in age from U11 to U19 deputising in Linz.
Payas Jain of India leads the U19 Boys’ Singles draw, looking for his first championship of the year. The World No.4 has yet to achieve his peak, with a semifinal place in Tunis being his best result to date. Louis Laffineur of Belgium is the next-highest-ranked entrant, and he comes to Linz with confidence after reaching the quarterfinals in the competitions in Spa and Doha.

Elena Zaharia is a well-known player who has had several triumphs in the WTT Youth Series. The 17-year-old Romanian star, who has won six U19 titles since the series’ inception in 2021, is aiming for her third trophy of the year after outstanding performances in Spa and the Youth Star Contender tournament in Tunis. In Linz, though, she will face stiff opposition from the likes of Italy’s Nicole Arlia, as well as the Indian combo of Yashaswini Deepak Ghorpade and Suhana Saini.
Arlia and Saini are the top-ranked contenders in the U17 Girls’ Singles category, and keep a watch out for Bianca Mei Rosu, who arrives at Linz with big goals. The Romanian ace seeded third in the U17 draw, will also like her chances in the U15 discipline as the event’s top name. She’ll have to be at her best, though, with rivals Natalia Bogdanowicz and Mariana Santa Comba from Poland and Portugal ready to pounce.
In an intriguing U13 race, Hungary’s Sophie Barcsai and India’s Hansini Mathan compete against Syrian star Hend Zaza. The latter of the three made headlines in 2020 when she defeated all odds to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. She travels to Linz in search of her second championship of 2022, following her victory at WTT Youth Contender Sulaymaniyah 2022. The U11 draw has nine participants, including five Austrians.
