WTC Final: “English conditions, the Duke ball,” Michael Vaughan Picks His Winner For The WTC Final 2021

WTC Final: The English cricketer provided the reasoning behind his prediction with the English conditions playing heavily in his decision making

Although India are currently the top ranked team in test cricket, the side knows things will be far from straightforward for it when it takes on New Zealand next month.

Slated to take on the Black Caps in testing English conditions, the Indians will be tested to the hilt in the final of the World Test Championship. With the pitch team set to deploy a heavy covering of grass owing to India’s spin friendly pitches when England toured the country earlier, the Indian batsmen will be left knackered by the New Zealand bowlers.

WTC Final: Vaughan Predicts New Zealand Win

And these circumstances are what will end up handing the inaugural WTC final trophy to New Zealand as per Michael Vaughan. Talking about the WTC final 2021, the old English cricketer predicted a triumph for New Zealand as he believed them to come out on top in the English condition.

“New Zealand (will win). English conditions, the Duke ball, and India on the back of a busy schedule… they’ll arrive pretty much a week before and go straight into it, [and] New Zealand have two test matches, you could argue warmups against England to get them prepared for the final,” Vaughan told Spark Sport.

“So it’s quite an obvious one for me, New Zealand will be better prepared and they’ll have more of a group of players who’ve played more cricket with the red ball, particularly the Duke ball here in the UK. New Zealand, all the way.”

While it remains to be seen if his prediction comes to fruition, his comments are bound to irk Indian supporters. Vaughan has over the last couple of months become a hated figure amongst Indian supporters owing to his controversial comments on the side and its players.

Vaughan’s decision to hand NZ the trophy is bound to do him no favour to bridge that gap.
