Australia earned a spot in this match by dominating the WTC standings with 152 points, while India earned a spot in their second straight WTC Final by placing second to Australia on the standings with 127 points.

While players and fans are concentrated on the pitch and every ball that their team confronts, they are also thinking about the coveted Championship in the background.

What is the WTC final trophy?

Since the reward departs from the traditional designs used for International Cricket Council (ICC) Championships, the WTC Final trophy is actually not even a trophy. Instead, it is a mace akin to the awards given to Test series champions over the years.

How does the WTC final trophy look?

The mace was created by English luxury company Thomas Lyte as a homage to Test cricket matches played throughout the years. The idea behind the mace is that, at its essence, cricket is about the ball through which activity occurs, regardless of which side of the pitch it occurs on. A globe is positioned around the ball to demonstrate how Test cricket is played in every corner of the globe.

The first mace was created back in 2000 by renowned trophy designer Trevor Brown, who was motivated after witnessing a bowler take a wicket stump for himself. He got the idea to create a mace to replace traditional trophies as the trophy for Test cricket after seeing that image.

Sri Lanka, one of the top teams vying for a position in the championship game, finished fifth and will receive $200,000 (Rs 1.65 cr). Each of the remaining teams, which are West Indies (No. 8), New Zealand (No. 6), Pakistan (No. 7) and Bangladesh (No. 9) will get a prize fund of $100,000.

New Zealand won the first edition while Australia were the winners in 2023.
