How WTA Women’s Doubles Rankings is Decided?
In doubles, the top-ranked team is the pair with the most WTA rankings points during the preceding 52 weeks. Points are provided based on how far a team progresses in tournaments and the event category. Since 1984, the WTA has employed a computerised technique to determine doubles rankings.
2022 Season Highlights of World No.1 Kateřina Siniaková and Doubles Partner Barbora Krejčíková
1) Kateřina Siniaková
Siniaková and Bernarda Pera won the doubles title at the Melbourne Summer Set 2 to start the 2022 season. She reached the women’s doubles final with partner Krejková as the top seed at the Australian Open, where they defeated Anna Danilina and Beatriz Haddad Maia to win their first Australian Open women’s doubles title.
Siniaková has won four Grand Slam titles in women’s doubles, including the 2018 French Open, 2018 Wimbledon Championships, 2021 French Open, and 2022 Australian Open with compatriot Barbora Krejková. On October 22, 2018, Siniaková became the world No. 1 in doubles, a position she kept for the next 33 weeks. She has won 16 WTA doubles titles, including the WTA Finals in 2021 and two WTA 1000 titles.
2) Barbora Krejčíková
Krejková began the season by reaching the final of the Sydney International, a WTA 500 event, where she was defeated by Paula Badosa in a final-set tie break. She had previously defeated Anett Kontaveit in a thrilling semifinal in which she was bageled in the first set, saved seven match points, and won 14-12 in a final-set tie break.
Krejková reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 Australian Open as the fourth seed in singles, defeating Jelena Ostapenko and Victoria Azarenka along the way before falling to Madison Keys. In doubles, she advanced to the final with partner Siniakova, where they defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia and Anna Danilina to win their fourth major doubles title.
