At the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic, Daria Kasatkina won her first championship of the year after rallying to beat No. 45 Shelby Rogers 6-7(3), 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match on Sunday. The final paired Kasatkina’s physicality and all-court cunning against Rogers’ potent baseline game and commanding serve with their head-to-head knotted at 1-1. Kasatkina quickly opened up the match to take a 5-3 lead, but she was unable to serve out the set. After a tough 78-minute set, Rogers improved her baseline discipline and upped her game, saving a set point before winning the tiebreak.
