After winning the grass-court Bad Homburg Open, Garcia’s first championship in three years, it is her second trophy of the year.

In her 12th career final, the French player could rely more on her serve, winning 72% of the first-service points versus her opponent’s 47%, who was competing in her maiden championship game.

Garcia, who was formerly rated fourth, has triumphed in 18 of her last 21 games. She ended Iga Swiatek’s 18-match winning streak on clay courts in Warsaw by defeating the top-ranked player there in the quarterfinals.

With the victory, Garcia increased her opponent’s record against her to 2-0.

Garcia told that it was a tricky fixture for her. The winner, as reported by the WTA site said:

“It was a tough match, every final is always tricky”

Garcia, a former World No. 4, saw her rating drop all the way to No. 79 in May, her lowest spot since 2014. The Frenchwoman, though, has made a remarkable comeback since then, winning 18 of her past 21 matches.

Garcia’s comeback started in earnest five weeks ago when she won her first championship in three years on the grass at Bad Homburg. In the subsequent month, Garcia advanced to the Round of 16 at Wimbledon, the semifinals in Lausanne, and the quarterfinals in Palermo.

Anna Danilina/Anna-Lena Friedsam vs  Katarzyna Kawa/Alicja Rosolska

The WTA 250 tournament final in Warsaw was won by the German player Anna-Lena Friedsam, ranked 156 in the WTA, and the Kazakh tennis player Anna Danilina ranked 23 in the WTA. They defeated Polish players Katarzyna Kawa and Alicja Rosolska, ranked 87 and 42 in the WTA, respectively, by scores of 6-4, 5- 7, and 10-5. The players are now the WTA 250 tournament in Warsaw champions as a result of this outcome.
