The WTA Linz Open 2021 is organized by the Women’s Tennis Association, also known as the WTA. Founded in 1987, the WTA Linz Open is an international women’s tennis tournament held in Linz, Austria.

The debut event occurred in 1987 in Wels, Austria, and was managed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as a $10,000 competition. Since 1991, it has been coordinated in Linz as a WTA Tour competition. After multiple tier changes, the Linz Open was played as a Tier-II competition starting in 1998.  Since the 2009 edition of the WTA Linz Open, it is recognized as a WTA International Tournament.
