Top seeds are back on clay in Italy Rome. The 79th edition of the Italian Open is back and with Iga Swiatek’s return on clay after her tremendous 20-match winning streak.

1- Iga Swiatek
Swiatek missed Madrid Open because the 20-year-old professional said she needed some rest following culture 20-match winning streak with four consecutive WTA titles. The former Grand Slam winner is ready to continue her tremendous form on clay as she returns as a heavy favourite in Rome, Italy and as a defending champion.
2- Simona Halep
Former World No. 1 Simona Halep recently reached the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open before getting defeated by Jelena Ostapenko. She came past players like Coco Gauff, Paula Badosa and Shuai Zhang. At Indian Wells Masters, she reached the semifinals but got defeated by eventual winner Iga Swiatek and Ostapenko at Dubai Tennis Championships. Quite a good advancement this season and she is expected to continue her form ahead in Italy as well.
3-Aryna Sabalenka
Sabelenka reached the final of the Stuttgart Open where she was defeated by eventual winner Iga Swiatek. Top-seeded Sabalenka outlasted players like Badosa and Anett Kontaveit at Stuttgart. She then reached the quarters of the Qatar Open but her journey was ended in Doha by the winner of the tournament Swiatek.
Sabalenka will be continuing as a top seed at Rome.
4- Paula Badosa
Badosa from Spain was ranked No. 2 following her run in the 2022 tennis season. She recently reached the semifinals at Stuttgart Open beaten by Sabalenka. At Charleston Open and Maimi Open, she progressed until the quarterfinals. The Spaniard also reached the last four of the Indian Wells Masters before losing to Maria Sakkari. She started her 2022 tennis season with a trophy at Sydney International.
5- Maria Sakkari
Sakkari reached the final at Indian Wells Masters but was outlasted by eventual winner Iga Swiatek. She had a great run at Qatar Open coming past players like Gauff and Pegula but her journey was ended by Swiatek again in the semifinals. At ST. Petersburg was defeated by Anett Kontaveit in the final. Sakkari is entering Italy as a favourite following her great run and advancements at several tournaments of the year.
