Ons Jabeur vs Belinda Bencic
After defending Olympic champion Belinda Bencic was forced to withdraw injured in the final of the Berlin Open on Sunday, Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur won the second grasscourt victory of her career.
1st seed Jabeur won the first set 6-3, but Bencic was forced to retire due to an ankle injury in the final game. With Jabeur leading 2-1 in the second, the Swiss sought to press on but were eventually forced to retire.
While the audience applauded both finalists, the Tunisian was busy treating Bencic as she took her seat, offering her an ice bucket for her ankle.
Jabeur only dropped one set during the competition, sending a message to her opponents ahead of Wimbledon, which begins on June 27.
She was also the winner of the Madrid Open this year defeating Jessica Pegula.
