Petra Kvitova vs Jelena Ostapenko

Petra Kvitova is back in the winner’s circle on the Hologic WTA Tour for the first time in more than a year.
On Saturday, No. 14 seed Petra Kvitova defeated No. 8 seed and defending champion Jelena Ostapenko with a score of 6-3, 6-2 to win the Rothesay International title and the 29th WTA singles championship of her career.

The two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova is currently 5-1 in grass-court finals. The Czech’s only other defeat on a grass court occurred in the 2011 Eastbourne final, where she lost to Marion Bartoli in a matchup of future Wimbledon champions.

Kvitova didn’t have her serve broken for the third straight match. In each of her last two matches, the Czech faced just one break point; in the championship, Kvitova faced two.

On the Eastbourne lawns, Ostapenko’s nine-match winning streak came to a stop. The former French Open champion played well, striking 21 winners to 19 unforced errors, but she was broken three times and never got a grasp on Kvitova’s left-handed serve.

Pair of Aleksandra Krunic and Magda Linette lift the WTA doubles Eastbourne International 2022 title as they got a walkover by the duo Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok. Ostapenko also reached the final of the singles against Petra Kvitova and played the final today but was defeated by Kvitova in straight sets.

The winner of the singles, Petra Kvitova along with the trophy and 470 WTA points will bag $116,340 prize money amd the runner-up Jelena Ostapenko will go with 305 WTA points and $71,960 prize money.
