In the Women’s Premier League 2023 championship match, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets thanks to three-wicket hauls from Hayley Matthews and Issy Wong, which preceded magnificent innings from Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur.

2023 Women’s Premier League Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians final result, score, & best performers

In Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets to win the TATA WPL’s inaugural title. With three wickets each, Issy Wong (3/42) and Hayley Matthews (3/5) shone with the ball as they assisted Mumbai Indians in limiting Delhi Capitals to 131/9. Harmanpreet Kaur’s 39-run innings provided required support to Nat Sciver-Brunt, who managed an unbeaten 60-run to help MI chase down the mark in the final over of a close game.

After choosing to bat first, Delhi Capitals quickly lost wickets as Issy Wong claimed three early victims alongside Hayley Matthews, who took three additional wickets. Melie Kerr later claimed two more wickets, but Radha Yadav and Shikha Pandey were still standing at 27 each, leading their team to a score of 131/9.

2023 Women’s Premier League individual awards & prize money details

After becoming the WPL 2023 champions, Mumbai Indians will receive Rs 6 crore, while the runners-up Delhi Capitals will receive Rs 3 crore. The third-placed UP Warriorz will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 crore. Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who were in fourth and fifth position, would leave without any prizes.

Thanks to her 60-run innings in the final, Nat Sciver-Brunt was chosen as the MVP of the final. Meanwhile, star bowler Hayley Matthews was recognized as the tournament MVP. Although, Meg Lanning failed to guide her team to a memorable title, she can be proud with her play that earned her the Orange Cap.
