Worst WWE Matches In History: Worst Women’s WWE Matches Ranked

WWE women have come a long way from being mere eye-candy divas to actual superstars today. However, a string of their matchups are also included in the worst WWE matches.

The WWE Women have put on many memorable matches and have even started wrestling in PPV main events. But many of these matches have proven low-key embarrassing. Reasons for this vary from the sexism of the Attitude Era to less ring time for women on the match cards.

Following are the Worst WWE Matches In History

1. The Fabulous Moolah Vs. Debbie Combs (Fresno Show, June 8, 1987)

With a match rating of minus three given by Dave Meltzer, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) has provided this match with the lowest WWE Women’s match rating. Moolah and Combs were never known for their mat wrestling ability. But both were capable enough as entertainers, though they fell very short in this match.

It’s almost ten minutes long and you can’t watch it without yawning. No other women’s match has been rated this low before.

2. Mae Young, The Fabulous Moolah, Tori, Debra Vs. Ivory, Jacqueline, Luna, Terri (Survivor Series 1999)

Despite this match lasting for less than two minutes, watching it feels much longer. Each competitor only got one move in, whether it be a clothesline, DDT, or suplex. The match didn’t follow the traditional Survivor Series elimination rules so winning only required a single pinfall.

Shame that even this single fall was disappointing. The Fabulous Moolah merely landed a crossbody on the Women’s Champion Ivory to get the three-count.

3. Cameron vs. AJ Lee (Elimination Chamber 2014)

AJ Lee is one of the longest-reigning Divas Champions, but not every one of her matches has been able to hit the mark. The two WWE women only had three minutes on the PPV but their wrestling felt sloppy and hardly anyone seemed interested. The match ended when Tamina accidentally superkicked AJ, leading to a disqualification.

4. Natalya vs. Becky Lynch vs. Tamina vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Carmella (Money in the Bank 2017)

Both, the announcement of this match and the match itself, had brought tears to my eyes. Except my tears after the announcement were happy. This was the first time women were competing for the Money in the Bank contract.

It was supposed to be a landmark moment in female wrestling. Instead, WWE writers gave us a very sexist and pointless ending in which Carmella’s sidekick James Ellsworth climbed the ladder and retrieved the briefcase for her. A re-do of the match happened on Smackdown which also saw Carmella winning.

5. Ms. Wrestlemania Battle Royal (Wrestlemania XXV)

WWE had promised to crown the greatest female performer in WrestleMania history after this match. The Battle Royal had come down to Melina, Beth Phoenix and Santina Marella – Santino Marella in drag – who won the match after eliminating the two veterans.

This is just another example of how the Divas Division was a joke, back in the day. But apart from the women wrestlers, it was an insult to the drag community as well.
