Athletes that compete in the series will accumulate pints that count in the 2023 world title and Olympic Games Paris 2024 qualifications.
2023 World Triathlon Championship Series preview and players to watch out
Going into the series, Bermuda’s reigning Olympic champion Flora Duffy and France’s Leo Bergere will be defending their series titles after previously winning the titles last season.
Alex Yee
Alex Yee is still only 25 years old, but already Britain’s top triathlete and knows has experience in winning titles. Back in 2021, Yee won the individual silver and mixed relay gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
He then won second place in the World Series in 2022. Besides those titles, he also featured in the British team, which qualified for the upcoming Paris 2024 mixed relay competition.
Georgia Taylor-Brown
Georgia Taylor-Brown is another Brit who qualified for Paris 2024 alongside Alex Yee in the British team. Taylor-Brown is also the reigning Olympic mixed relay champion and individual silver medalist. She will be looking to win this year after coming in second in the 2022 World Series. Taylor-Brown narrowly lost out on the title just during the final race of the season.
Others
Norway’s Kristian Blummenfelt, who won the men’s individual Olympic champion, is also a player to watch out. Another name to keep in mind is Vincent Luis, Bergere’s compatriot who has previously won the World Series twice.
Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, USA’s Gwen Jorgensen, who is a Rio 2016 Olympic champion is worth watching. Her teammate Katie Zaferes, is also another name worth noting after recently winning a bronze at Tokyo 2020.
