2023 World Test Championship final Australia vs India winner, result, score, & best performers
Early on, Australia had the upper hand in the 2023 World Test Championship final thanks to outstanding first-innings centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith. However, India rallied to force the game to a fifth day and looked comfortable to chase the improbable target of 443-runs. All outcomes were still possible on day five of the 2023 Final, with Australia needing seven wickets and India needing 280 more runs at the start of play. With two early dismissals in the last day, Scott Boland set the tone for Australia’s rout of India and victory in the World Test Championship.
Travis Head was named as man of the match.
Australia was the most successful team throughout the WTC cycle, ranking first in the standings and earning a spot in the championship match versus India with 11 victories from 19 games. India will be disappointed with their performance on day one, which put them in a difficult position for the rest of the game. By losing, India has now dropped both of the World Tennis Championship Finals that have been played since the competition’s inception. While for Australia, this WTC Final victory fills in the nation’s lone major ICC prize that was lacking from its trophy cabinet.
