The 2022 Betfred World Snooker Championship is a professional snooker competition that will take place at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, from April 16 to May 2, 2022. The competition will be the 46th World Snooker Championship to be held at the venue. The World Snooker Tour hosts the tournament, which is the 16th and final ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season.
2022 World Snooker Championship Tournament Schedule, Dates, Tickets And Venue
The tournament is taking place at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, England with the final is slated for Monday, May 2nd. The same venue is hosting the World Snooker Championship for the 46th consecutive year. Tickets for the fixtures can be bought here.
The tournament matches will take place in the following manner:
- 21st April- 25th April: Second Round Matches
- April 26- April 27: Quarter-final Matches
- April 28- April 30: Semi-final Matches
- May 1- May 2: Final
Tournament Format And Rules
The best of 19 frames will be present in the first round of the main draw, the best of 25 frames in the second round and quarter-finals, and the best of 33 frames in the semi-finals. The final will be a best-of-35-frames competition played over two days.

The event’s second round will be contested over three sessions between April 21 and 25, with the best of 25 frames.
After winning the first frame of the third session, O’Sullivan defeated Allen with a score of 13–4. With this victory, he became the first player to reach the Crucible’s 20th quarter-final and to win 71 games. Ronnie O’Sullivan will now face Stephen Maguire in the quarter-final of 2022 Snooker World Championship in a best of 25 frame match.
Selby won the first frame against Yan, but Yan took the next three to take a 3–1 lead at the break. The following two frames were split, but Selby took the next two frames of the session to tie the game at 4–4.
Selby won the next three frames with breaks of 86, 117, and 88 to cut Yan’s advantage to one frame at 11–10. Yan captured the first two frames of the third session to lead 11–7. Yan took the opening frame on the final black, then won the next with a 112 break to win 13–10 and advance to the quarter-finals for the first time.
After the first session, Trump and McGill were knotted at 4–4 after each player made a century break. Robertson took the first two frames against Lisowski, but Lisowski came back with four straight frames to take a 4–2 lead. Robertson was denied permission to leave the stadium to work on his cue tip, but he tied the game at 4–4 with back-to-back centuries of 117 and 138.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
The champion of the 2022 Snooker World Championship will take home £500,000 in prize money, while the losing finalist will take home £200,000. The tournament’s total prize pool will be 2,395,000 pounds.
A maximum break at the Crucible is worth £40,000, whereas a maximum break in the qualification rounds is worth £10,000. These incentives come on top of the £15,000 top prize for the most spectacular break.
