The tournament’s semi-finals will take place over four sessions on April 28, 29, and 30, with a best-of-33 frame format. All four semi-finalists are former champions for the first time in the Crucible, with O’Sullivan having won six titles, Higgins four, Williams three, and Trump one.
Mark Williams fought back and made the score 13-11 in his Betfred World Championship semi-final against Judd Trump by taking six of the eight available frames this evening. After a dismal first session yesterday, Williams fell down 7-1, then he trailed 9-2 this morning and 12-5 this evening. To keep the tie alive, he has summoned his finest snooker game. If he were to win after overcoming a seven-frame deficit, it would be the greatest comeback in a Crucible semi-final.
Meanwhile, Ronnie O’Sullivan, the world number one, and John Higgins tied 4-4 in the first session of their semi-final clash. Later, Ronnie O’Sullivan opened up a 10-6 lead over John Higgins in their 2022 World Championship semi-final with a dramatic penultimate frame of the session.
With a 73 break, O’Sullivan won the first frame of the second session. Higgins won two straight frames, but O’Sullivan’s 99 break tied the game at 6–6. Following the mid-session break, O’Sullivan hit a 91 to win the 13th frame, won the 14th on the colors when Higgins missed a lengthy pot on the green, and won the 15th with a break of 70. With 51 points remained on the table in the final frame of the session, O’Sullivan was 51 points behind. He broke 8 and then cleared 43 to force a re-spotted black, which he potted to win his fifth straight frame and establish a 10–6 lead.
