The 2022 Betfred World Snooker Championship is a professional snooker competition that will take place at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, from April 16 to May 2, 2022. The World Snooker Tour hosts the tournament, which is the 16th and final ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season.

2022 World Snooker Championship Tournament Schedule, Dates, Tickets And Venue

The competition is taking place at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, with the final scheduled for Monday, May 2nd. For the 46th year in a row, the World Snooker Championship is being held at the same location. Tickets for the fixtures can be bought here.

The tournament matches will take place in the following manner:

  • April 28- April 30: Semi-final Matches
  • May 1- May 2: Final

Tournament Format And Rules

The best of 19 frames will be used in the first round of the main draw, the best of 25 frames in the second round and quarter-finals, and the best of 33 frames in the semi-finals. A two-day competition with a best-of-35-frames format will take place in the final.

The event’s semi-finals will take place over four sessions on April 28, 29, and 30, with the best of 33 frames. All four semi-finalists are former champions for the first time in the Crucible, with O’Sullivan having won six titles, Higgins four, Williams three, and Trump one.

In a thrilling quarter-final match, John Higgins defeated Jack Lisowski 13-12 to advance to the semi-finals of 2022 Snooker World Championship, where he will face six-time World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan. Judd Trump, meanwhile, won eight straight frames to beat Stuart Bingham 13-8 in the Betfred World Championship semi-finals for the first time since winning the title in 2019.

Mark Williams came back from a 10-8 deficit to beat Yan Bingtao 13-11 in the Betfred World Championship quarter-finals, becoming the first player in 37 years to reach the single table situation at the Crucible.

The winner of the Snooker World Championship in 2022 will get £500,000, with the loser receiving £200,000. The entire prize fund for the tournament will be 2,395,000 pounds.
