Up to and including the Quarter-Finals, all matches will be best of seven sets, with the Semi-Finals best of nine and the final best of thirteen. Each set uses the best of three legs. On Friday night at the World Seniors Darts Masters, a long-running rivalry between Phil Taylor and John Part was reignited, but it was ‘The Power’ who defeated ‘Darth Maple’ in a whitewash victory.

Taylor had promised himself before the competition that he would put in the work, and good exhibition performances had been discussed, but while cruising to a 4-0 victory, he wasn’t at his best on his return to Lakeside, with Part barely getting a single leg in a doubling disaster at times. Next up for the 16-time World Champion will be a game in which he will face either John Lowe or Les Wallace in the Quarter-Finals, which he will relish.

Wayne Jones has advanced to the World Seniors Darts Masters’ Last 16 after defeating Roland Scholten 4-1 in sets, and will now face Martin Adams at Lakeside tomorrow.

Given his former reputation and recent departure from the PDC Tour, Jones, as one of the qualifiers, is considered an outsider to win this weekend, comparable to Robert Thornton, who won the first World Seniors Darts Championship.
