At the conclusion of a competition that exposed women’s snooker to a large audience, Neil Robertson and Mink Nutcharut defeated Mark Selby and Rebecca Kenna 4-2 in the new BetVictor World Mixed Doubles final.
Despite beginning the day at the bottom of their group’s standings, Robertson and Nutcharut defeated Judd Trump and On Yee 4-0 in their last round-robin match. Nutcharut’s amazing 74 clearing, the team’s highest break of the weekend, was the game’s standout play, and the outcome was just good enough to secure them a position in the finals. The only team to win all three of their group games was Selby and Kenna, although they were outplayed in the championship game.
Selby gave his team the lead with a break of 107 to give the match the ideal start but Robertson’s 69-point break helped tie the game at 1-1. Robertson & Mink duo won the gritty third frame to take the lead and following the break, Robertson produced a break of 67, which increased their lead to 3-1. In frame six, Nutcharut shot a long red to give her team the advantage and Robertson followed-up with a 27 break to win the final with score of 4-2 and bag the title.
