With a century run of 104, Williams won the first frame of this afternoon’s match and put it on the right foot. Jones responded with a 59 to tie the match at 1-1, but that was his one and only frame. Williams put together contributions of 82, 100, & 121 during a break building blitz to win 4-1. In the afternoon’s second match, Noppon Saengkham stunned Mark Selby by winning 4-1, as the Thai fired breaks of 122, 75, & 104 in his pursuit of triumph. Elsewhere, Ryan Day defeated Ricky Walden 4-1 and China’s 14-time ranking event winner Ding Junhui defeated Stuart Bingham by score of 4-0.
At the World Grand Prix on Tuesday night, Ronnie O’Sullivan quickly defeated Barry Hawkins while Judd Trump also advanced. O’Sullivan, who still felt bad about losing to Mark Williams at the Masters, was completely focused from the start and scarcely offered his opponent a chance the entire time. Ronnie’s next opponent will be Noppon Saengkham, who eliminated Mark Selby earlier in the evening.
